Unified Gateway Windows PDC

Prerequisites

  • Windows XP Professional, with SP2 and above will join the domain without issues. Not supported for any previous Windows versions.

  • Vista professional required, to join a domain.

  • User policies and security profiles have to be created by the user. Elina will enforce these policies via the PDC.

  • Simple procedure to export policies to the ENPAQ.

  • User needs to have ENPAQ Rel 2.4.1 Poledit.zip and Domain name.

 

ENPAQ Configuration

Create user and give “Samba” access permission


Configure Samba and select the server type as “Primary Domain Controller”. Enter the preferred domain name under Applications--> SMB File share


Enter the Share Name and select Read-Write permission to the newly created share name


Enable PDC and provide the domain password


If Roaming profile required then select “Enable roaming profile:”


Copy the poledit.zip file to the ENPAQ share

 

Adding Windows system to Domain
  • Login to the windows local system with the administrative privilege
  • Open the ENPAQ share and copy the poledit.zip file to the windows system
  • To join the local system to the domain right click on My Computer -> Properties -> Computer Name -> “On change”



Enter the same domain name as entered in the PDC configuration

Give the domain admin user name and password when prompted while joining to the domain. Log-off as the local user and login to the domain user.

 

Policy configuration in Windows System
  • Extract the poledit.zip file from the share folder
  • Open the extracted folder poledit
  • Copy all ADM files to inf files
  • Copy *.ADM c:\windows\inf (here inf folder is in hidden)
  • Copy poledit.exe file to c:\windows\system32. Then start -> run -> poledit.exe

Click on Options -> Policy Template


New Window opens showing Current Policy Templete


To add the new ADM file, click on Add
Browse the file under the path c:\windows\inf


To save the file, click open


 

Adding the Policy in Windows System

 Click on File-> New Policy


Opens new window with Default Computer and Default User


Double click on Default computer -> click on USB/CDROM


Click Ok to save


Save the new policy in the path \\enpaq\netlogon and give the file name as NTConfig.POL


Save and exit the System Policy Editor. Log off from the system and login as normal user to make the new policy effective.
